December 14

Today the rains fell.  It rained and rained.  However, we did not let it stop us from getting out and enjoying the day.  We started by taking our laundry to have it cleaned.  Then we walked around Shamian Island and browsed and enjoyed talking to the shopkeepers.  At 2:45 our guide Judy came to the Victory Hotel to meet us.  We were escorted to have Gabriel's passport photo made, (really cute I might add), then we walked a few doors down for his medical exam.  The great part was the fact that there was no waiting, we happened to be the only family there due to the on and off again rains.  We were taken back immediately and after a 5 minute exam we were finished.  We were then taken by private bus to arrange for his visa and passport.  We met up with several other families that we knew while there.  Joe and I were sitting with Deb and Piper (for those who do not know, Deb adopted Piper from the same CWI as Gabriel, and we corresponded a few times prior to travel), while waiting for our turn I thought it would be a great time to take some photos of Piper, she was looking really cute with her new pink shoes on, so I started snapping away.  Then I hear people going ssshhhh, psssst, pssst, stop taking photos, you are not allowed, Oh well, I was able to get a few in.  After leaving this Office we came back to the hotel.  Joe and I went next door bought babyfood and drinks then decided to call it a night.  When you consistently wake up at 3:00 am you are ready for bed by 8:00.  Our sweet boy is just perfect for us in every way.  He is climbing on everything yet when he is in the stroller, he is perfectly content.  He just goes with the flow.  He is eating very well, and thanks to Deb, he is now drinking well.  We did not bring any Cleft Bottles so it had been challenging trying to get fluids in him.  He would not take the Nuby nipple and the Nuby sippy cup exhausted him.  I have cut larger holes in nipples and tried everything, nothing was working well until Deb showed up at my door with a 6 pack of cleft bottles.  Our boy is now drinking with ease.  THANKS DEB!  I will now post some pictures cause I know that is what everyone is here for.  Also, you will see Deb and Piper.  Big Hugs, Alicia and Joe
