| Hi everyone, it is Tuesday morning around 6:00.
Gabriel is still sleeping and did not wake up all night. His
transition has been very smooth so far. I will tell more about him
now since I am not in New Mommy Shock Mode. He came to us very
clean, no problems with his skin and his teeth are shiny and white.
It looks like the children are cared for very well at Foshan. He
does have a cough that is rather bad so we started him on antibiotics last
night. He is able to walk but loves to be carried. He is so
tiny. Since he is 19 months old I brought 18 month clothes and just
a few 12 months and the 12 months are big on him. He is probably in
a size 9 month. He is not skinny or frail looking though, just
tiny. He looks very healthy. Everyone around keeps asking
about our daughter, when we say he is a boy they look stunned. I am
not sure about that one, cause he looks like a boy to me. He gets
many compliments on those big eyes of his. They are HUGE! He
is comfortable going back and forth between Joe and me and will sit in one
spot and play, play play. He had not made a sound up until we went
and found Deb and her daughter Piper. They are great by the
way. We went to Deb's room and when Piper and Gabriel saw each other
Piper said "JIA JIA" that is what he was called at the CWI.
Then this child of mine who has not uttered a sound started rambling
something in Cantonese back to her. I could not believe it. He
can talk, yes it is more like Cantonese baby talk but I was just glad to
hear sounds coming out of him. He looked quite happy to see
Piper. Today Deb goes to the Provincial building at 8:30 when we do,
so after all of the paperwork is done, we are taking the children to the
park to play. I will not say much about Piper and will let Deb tell
all about her. I will just say that she is really cute and she liked
Joe and me. She stuck her cheek out for us to kiss her bye. So
cute. Deb says she is still waiting on permission to go to the
Orphanage so I am hoping we get to go together. It will be easier
for taking lots of photos and giving lots of hugs. For my mom, the
way JIA JIA is pronounced is GAGA. For everyone who does not know,
that is the name my children call my mother. So we are gonna have
fun with that. Parker, Jared, and Sophia, We miss you! Those
words don't begin to tell you how much my heart hurts being away from all
of you. Just keep remembering it won't be much longer. Mommy
and daddy love you so much. We will have such a blessed Christmas
having Gabriel home. Oh, by the way, Mom, if you could let Sophia
know that Gabriel loves her car that I brought. He has clung to it
for dear life. It is his favorite. Oh and we are still
adjusting to taking a bottle or sippy cup. He has struggled with the
Nuby but by last night he had finally made progress on how to get the milk
out. Kind of a chew, suck thing. And I will be happy to admit that
his daddy got the first smile and giggle out of him. He is a
Doll! I will post some more pics this afternoon and will let all of
you Foshan mommies know when we go to the Orphanage.
Big hugs, Alicia and Joe |
